NEST (Nature Education for Sustainable Todays and Tomorrows)
At the Davis Bay NEST, the goal is to grow green hearts and minds in children attending public education through offering hands on, experiential learning opportunities in both the outdoor and indoor classrooms they explore. Inquiry, play and child-centred learning are all important pieces in the program, while continuing to honour the B.C. curriculum and its guidelines for primary/early intermediate learning. Children and Nature guide the lesson planning in this multi-age approach, as they will often find themselves digging deep into learning in the forest, at the beach or the estuary close to their home base.
