Founder of Sprockids Receives National Award!

Gibsons Elementary School Teacher, Doug Detwiller, has been honoured with an award in recognition of his contribution to youth in cycling! The IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) Canada Leadership Award was presented to Doug this week.

Mr. Detwiller developed this program in 1990 to address issues of self esteem / anger management. It has grown to become a very successful program and is offered in 17 countries world-wide. Sprockids has impacted thousands of young people, and turned them on to the thrill of trail riding and stewardship. Sprockids activities and programs take place through schools, community centers, boys and girls clubs, and cycling clubs.

Congratulations, Doug on receiving this national award!
