Gibsons Elementary June PAC Meeting
Call to order at 7:07 on June 16th 2010.

1.3 SD 46 Trustee Fran Heppel presented service awards to the following GES staff today: Audrey Owen, JeanKlan, Sylvia Kopek, Gabriele Knecht and Susan Murray.
1.4 We have had our Kindergarten Parent meeting earlier with our two Kindergarten teachers for next year(Sylvia Kopek & Patricia Sullivan). The Full Day K play based curriculum was discussed along with other helpful information. Attendance was excellent.

1.6 School Supplies for next year: To be posted on the web site at the end of the month. Telus Backpacks with supplies are available for students if they need one with supplies.
1.7 School startup: Tuesday, September 7th.
I will be available until July 6th and from August 30 – September 2, prior to school startup.

School Store Report: Autumn White: The last day for the store is June 25th and there is a donation from the store for $1500.00 to the PAC.
Old Business: Pammila Ruth would like to change the PAC board elections to September 15thinstead of October, all approved this idea. A notice informing Parents of the PAC elections will be sent out in September and Mark will add this to the school website.
New Business:
- Lana LaBelle will have the names of outgoing PAC members and volunteers for the endof the year assembly. She will organize a thank you card or flowers. Also theTeachers lunch will be held on June 23rd and food will be ordered from IGA. She will have flowers and cards for the retiring Teachers.
- ShirleyWaite has motioned for an extra $100.00 for Mr. Angelus reed fund, as the existing $300.00 does not seem to cover the costs of reeds. Frances Kosteckyj 1stand Pammila Ruth 2nd, carried by a yea vote, these funds are for the September budget.
- Frances Kosteckyj put a discussion forward on the changes to the Crossing Guard at GES. It was noted that in the new school year there would be only be one Crossing Guard instead of two in the intersection. Fran Heppell addressed this change as a budget cut from the School Board. A round table discussion on the safety of students followed with Pam putting forward the idea of a petition and to film the intersection to show the need for two Guards.
- Rose McNiven: Chris Wolford from the BCCPAC will be giving a presentation at Chatelech Secondary on September 27that 5:00pm. Rose has organized two dates for an Anti- Bulling presentation bythe BCCPAC; the dates are November 17th or 29th. The dates will be confirmed by the beginning of the new school year and will beposted on the GES website. The presentation at GES is for all Sunshine Coast schools and interested parents or individuals.
- AutumnWhite would like to set up a bulletin board on the lower level of GES for the primary parents who do not read the one by the office. Mark addressed this inquiry and would have to look at what space is available and how it would be managed.
- Autumn spoke with Mrs. Owen who has requested speakers for her classroom computer,this would enable the class to hear music at better listening level. Autumn motions for two sets of speakers at aprox $100.00 each. , 2nd byShirley Waite. Carried by a yea vote.
- KateTauber has spoken to the manager of Super Valu they will donate some of the needed earthquake supplies up to $1500.00. Tubs for the comfort kits for classrooms will be ready in September and the PAC will need to purchase water bottles to replenish the ones used for Sports day.
- Autumn,Shirley and Frances will order the coffee from Starbucks for the first day ofthe new school year and will welcome parents back on September 7th.
